Wendell Farmer's Market Opens - Saturday May 10th @8am, 3700 Wendell Blvd.
The Wendell Farmers’ Market is open Saturdays 8 am-12 pm May 10-October 25, 2014 at 3700 Wendell Blvd. in Wendell. This is a great community gathering place each week with farmers and other vendors bringing their locally grown, seasonal produce to market, as well as baked goods, eggs, crafts and more.
Market Manager Brandy Hunter has planned a few special opening day activities, including a cookout, education from the Master Gardeners of Wake County and a special Mother’s Day craft for kids. The market will host a weekly Get Fit Kids series, Farmer Jo’s Fun Food, a monthly food demo focused on preparing foods available from the market; education on canning, composting, health and much more.
The market accepts EBT, debit and credit cards; just stop by the market information tent to swipe your card and receive tokens in exchange. The tokens can be used just like cash and they do not expire. EBT cards enable people receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, or food assistance benefits, to purchase healthy, local produce at the Wendell Farmers’ Market.
