Adopt-A-Highway Program
The location which will be maintained by the Appearance Commission will be US 64 (US 64 Bus. from Marks Creek Rd. (SR 2234) to Rolesville Rd. (SR 1003). The AAH project is part of the Appearance Commission work plan and is important to help strengthen beautification efforts in the community.
The Adopt-A-Highway Program (AAH) was established by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) in response to growing public concern regarding litter along the state's highways. The AAH Program is administered by the NCDOT Office of Beautification, and is a joint effort between community volunteers and the NCDOT. Its purpose is to decrease the amount of litter on North Carolina's roadsides and improve the beauty and quality of the environment. All clean up participants should meet at the State Employee's Credit Union located at 605 Wendell Boulevard for Phase I Cleanups.
If you would like to volunteer* to join the Appearance Commission and help clean up the highway, please fill out a volunteer sign-up form so that the proper number of safety equipment can be obtained.
*Please note that all volunteers must be a minimum of 9 years old.
