 July 2nd Fireworks Show Wendell Park 9 p.m.

Get ready! The Town of Wendell will be hosting its FIRST EVER Fireworks Show on Saturday, July 2nd, 2022 at Wendell Community Park!

Located at 601 W. Third Street, Wendell Community Park will be closed beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, July 1st to set up for the event. It will reopen at 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 2nd to allow for parking on-site until full. The Fireworks Show will begin at 9 p.m.!

Parking will also be available downtown, so be sure to stop by one of Wendell’s local businesses and grab a sip and a bite before the activities!

Activities at the Fireworks will include Americana music and a variety of food trucks. Visitors are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, and activities for their families to enjoy.

Please refrain from bringing coolers and pets. Alcohol and personal fireworks including sparklers are prohibited. Thank you for understanding so we can keep this a safe event for everyone!

Wendell’s Fireworks Show is coming on July 2nd at 9 p.m.! This is the Event Map for the Wendell Community Park, with W. Third Street and Martin Street closed to vehicular traffic to allow for pedestrian traffic, golf carts, and shuttle buses to safely travel to the park.

Parking at Wendell Community Park will begin at 6 p.m. with access being open at the new park entrance on Landing View Drive. Once the park has reached its capacity, vehicle access will be closed to the park and cars can use street and public parking downtown. Citizens parking downtown can shuttle or walk to the park. Shuttle access is located at the Park & Ride lot on Fourth Street and Pine Street. Those with golf carts will be allowed to use Third Street to enter the park. Handicap parking will be located at the Tennis Courts, with staff available on-site to direct traffic.

Locations noted in red at Wendell Park will be closed to visitor access. This event will draw large crowds to the Community Center and the Wendell downtown area, which will affect normal traffic patterns. The Wendell Police Department will be providing traffic control and security throughout the evening, with certain streets blocked off to traffic to allow for pedestrian safety and traffic flow. Multiple shuttle buses will be running on a constant loop from the Park & Ride lot (noted on the map) to Wendell Park from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. for those parking downtown. The shuttles are free to visitors.

This event will draw large crowds to the Community Center and the Wendell downtown area, which will affect normal traffic patterns. The Wendell Police Department will be providing traffic control and security throughout the evening, with certain streets blocked off to traffic to allow for pedestrian safety and traffic flow. The following streets will be closed for the event, beginning at the following times:  

  • Third Street, from Cypress Street to Wendell Falls Parkway, heading west. Those with golf carts will be allowed to use Third Street to enter the park beginning at 5 p.m.
  • Third Street heading east from Wendell Falls Parkway to Landing View will be closed at 3 p.m.
  • Martin and Cook Street: staff will be allowing homeowner access, beginning at 3 p.m.

The park will be closing immediately after the Fireworks Show.

Wendell’s Fireworks Show is coming up on July 2nd at 9 p.m.! Planning on watching the fireworks from somewhere other than Wendell Community Park? Wendell Parks and Rec had a 300-foot  Balloon test where the fireworks will be launched and the following map was provided to show visibility within a 1.5-mile radius of the park.

If your viewing location falls within an area that is noted in blue, the fireworks should be fully visible. If your viewing location is in yellow, the fireworks may be partially visible. If your location is shown in red, the fireworks may not be visible.
