Community Outreach & Engagement

Community Policing is not a new idea. It is actually the foundation of a good police force. It is simply having a partnership between the citizens and police, in order to improve the quality of life in the town. This partnership requires input from both the community and its police.

The Wendell Police Department provides many services to the citizens of Wendell.  These services include:

Residential Security Checks- Prior to going out of town you can complete a house check form and provide it to us.  We will then be aware of the vacancy of your residence and provide security checks during your absence.

Residential Security Surveys - An officer will visit the home and evaluate the property from a security standpoint.  The officer will make recommendations for improvements in security and will note areas in which security concerns are being addressed appropriately.  They will also address ways to protect your valuables.

Business Security Surveys - Any business can contact the Wendell Police Department and request an officer to perform a Security Survey. It is a simple process that allows the business owner and the officer to evaluate the business facility from the outside in.  The officer will make recommendations for improvements in security and will note areas in which security concerns are being addressed appropriately. The officer is also available to speak with the employees of a business to discuss issues such as shoplifting, what to do is case of a robbery, fraudulent checks, etc.

Classes - The Wendell Police Department provides informational classes on crime related topics to any civic, school, or business organization. You tell us what your concerns are and we will present an informational class to your group on the subject of interest.

Camp Choices - Wendell Police Department provides a free camp for kids age 9-12. The camp can accommodate 40 participants.
