Wendell United Methodist Church is hosting their annual Community Day

Thursday 8th of September 2011

Wendell United Methodist Church is hosting their annual Community Day event on Saturday, September 10, 2011.  Boy Scout Troop 515 has been asked again, as last year, to prepare a tribute to the victims and heroes of the World Trade Center attacks, the attack on the Pentagon, and those brave souls on the plane that went down in Pennsylvania on  September 11, 2001.  We have expanded this to include tribute to our Military Service men & women, both active and veterans, and our home town public service personell as well.

In honor of the BSA's Scouting Surge 2011, we are inviting color guards from as many units as possible to participate with us.  We are going to assemble in the parking lot in front of First Citizens Bank on Wendell Blvd at 10:15 AM Saturday morning, and will present the colors promptly at 10:30 AM, along with a short speech and a brief moment of silence, followed by a closing prayer.  As other events are scheduled to follow, we will start promptly at 10:30 AM.  Please come and stand with us as we honor our fallen and active heroes.  We wish to invite all to join us.  As last year, we would like for all available Police, Fire and Rescue, and other department personnel to stand with us and be recognized.

Please contact Neil Barnhill, 919-868-1155, with any questions.
