The Wendell Police Department was awarded national accreditation on November 11, 2023, by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) in the Law Enforcement Accreditation program. This award was presented following a multi-year self-assessment phase, a web-based assessment, and a meticulous site-based assessment of community engagement, policy, procedures, equipment, and facilities by CALEA assessors. Wendell Police Department’s Chief William I. Carter and Accreditation Manager Ashlie Pippin attended the CALEA conference in Bellevue, WA. Each agency being reviewed appeared before CALEA’s 21-member Board of Commissioners where the Commission reviewed all findings and determined the agencies’ accreditation status.

The Wendell Police Department is proud to demonstrate that they adhere to a set of professional standards based on industry best practices.

Our mission is to deliver exceptional law enforcement services by linking innovation and community engagement to ensure a high quality of life for all the Wendell community.
