Town of Wendell Pedestrian Plan:
In the Spring of 2015, the Town of Wendell was awarded a grant through NCDOT to create a comprehensive Pedestrian Plan. Development of the plan is expected to commence in the fall of 2015. This plan will identify existing obstacles to walking and distinguish key destinations that pedestrians need or desire to reach. It will then recommend pedestrian improvements (whether it be new sidewalks, improvements to existing sidewalks, signage, or education/programming) and prioritize those improvements to assist the Town with implementation decisions. This plan will also help the Town obtain future grant funds to construct recommended pedestrian improvements.
Citizen involvement is key to identify existing constraints and potential opportunities in order to make Wendell a more walkable community. If you are interested in being involved in the planning process or would like to receive notifications as the plan progresses, please contact the Planning Department at 919-365-4448.
