Welcome to the Wendell Parks and Recreation Department
Mission: The Wendell Parks and Recreation Department strives to be a leader in Eastern Wake County by offering high quality recreational, cultural and leisure opportunities that will promote positive development and growth for Wendell citizens and visitors alike. It is our mission to provide open space facilities that will meet the needs of parks and recreation, preserve our natural resources and protect the historical integrity of our community for generations to come.
Cornhole Tournament Registration!!!
On Friday, October 4th, Wendell Parks and Recreation will be hosting its first ever Cornhole Tournament at the J. Ashley Wall Town Square during the Harvest Festival from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm. All proceeds will be used by the Parks and Recreation Department for various needs. There will be cash prizes and trophies awarded to the winners. There are three categories to sign up for: Kids ($10 per team), Pros ($30 per team), Average Joes ($20 per team). If money is received after September 31st, there will be an additional $10 Fee. The tournament will be Double Elimination and games will be played to 21 point. If you are interested, please fill out the registration form and bring it to 601 W. Third St. Wendell, NC 27591, or send it by mail to 15 E. Fourth St. Wendell, NC 27591.
Wendell Parks and Recreation is now registering for Fall Youth Basketball! Youth basketball is a program that is awesome and fun for kids ages 5 to 17 for boys and 5-15 for girls. (Ages are as of January 1st,2015) The cost to register online is $50 for a town residence and $70 for an out of town residence. In person registration forms may be printed off from our Parks and Recreation basketball web page. In person registration fees are $65 dollars for a non-resident and $45 dollars for a resident of Wendell. Also on the basketball page, there is information about our program, including when and where your child may play games and have practices. Get Moving in Eastern Wake County!
The Parks and Recreation Departments in Eastern Wake offer lots of free and low-cost ways for adults and children to be active and healthy year-round! Walk the greenways and trails,
join a class or a sports league. Bike or walk to these facilities, and you’re already on your way to a healthier start! Adults need 30 minutes of physical activity a day, and kids need 60 minutes a day.
