Public Notices:

The Public is hereby notified that the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) Ad Hoc Sub-Committee of the Board of Commissioners' Land Use and EconomicDevelopment Committee will hold a meeting at 9:15 a.m. on Monday, February 8, 2010 in the Conference Room of the Wendell Community Center.  The purpose of the meeting is to review Chapters 1 and 2 of the Unified Development Ordinance that was suspended until June 15, 2010.  The UDO Ad Hoc Sub-Committee plans to meet every Monday at 9:15 a.m. at the Community Center until the work of the committee has been completed.

The Public is hereby notifed that the Town Board of Commissioners', Public Works Facility and Infrastructure Committee will hold a meeting at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 in the Courtroom.  Click here to view a copy of the agenda.

Triangle Transit Bus Service

The Zebulon/Wendell-Raleigh Express (ZWX) bus route is a limited-stop route, with stops at Park-and-Ride lots in Zebulon and Wendell, WakeMed and Wake County Human Services off New Bern Ave, four stops at the state government complex, and the Moore Square Transit Station in downtown Raleigh.  The service is a partnership of Triangle Transit, the towns of Wendell and Zebulon, and the City of Raleigh.   The Zebulon/Wendell-Raleigh Express runs at peak commute times: Monday-Friday 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and Monday-Friday 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.  The fare for the route is $2.50 per one-way trip or $5.00 per round-trip.  Anyone    interested     in     the     service     can     sign-up     for     Triangle    Transit's    e-mail     alerts     at http://triangletransit.org/contact/alerts/ or can call the GoTriangle Regional Transit Information Center at 919-485-RIDE for more information.

Wake County Weatherization Assistance Program

Resources for Seniors administers the Weatherization Assistance Program for Wake County.  This program provides free home energy audits, tune-ups and repairs for those who qualify.  The Weatherization Assistance Program helps low-income families conserve energy, save money, and improve their living conditions.  For more information about the Weatherization Assistance Program, including income guidelines and weatherization applications, visit www.resourcesforseniors.com/weather.php

RBEG Grant Information Meeting

The Town of Wendell has received a Rural Busines Enterprise Grant (RBEG) for sidewalk improvements within the downtown business district.  Improvements and repairs are scheduled to be made along portions of Main, Fourth and Third Streets.  The grant will require the town to pay close attention to public improvements such as additional handicap ramps, crosswalks, electrical improvements, and signage.  The constrution drawings are nearing completion and the Town of Wendell would like to provide information to the business owners and citizens about the process and scope prior to the plans being submitted to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for approval.  There will be a public information meeting (floating) held at the Wendell Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, February the 18th from 4:30 until 6:00.  Town staff and engineers would like to encourage your participation in this process.
